I':)
,- ( :)
N
QO
ClO
~

"

.

.

2-2
In simulating the operation of the reservoir, the operation
wiLL be simuLated In accordance wiLh Lho arLicles of Lho Arkansas
River Compact AdminlstraLlon and the operating criteria adopted by
said Administration. The contents of the conservation pool for the
reservoir will then be determined for any ith day by the foLlowIng
relatIon 3

5i = 51-1 + Ii- Ri

(3)

Where

S i = simulated storage on the day in quest ion
5i_l= simuiated storage on the previous day.
Ii = inflow determined by eq. 1 using historical data
Ri = releases on the day in question. .

The releases, Ri, are determined according to the following
criteria.

1. During the period Nov. 1 to Mar. 31 all inflows will be
stored. Releases from the conservation pool will not
occur unless required for flood control purposes. (See #5
below).

2. Releases from the conservation pool during the period
Apr. 1 to Oct. 31 will be as follows:

a) If Si > 20000 af, Ri = 1250 cfs (2500 af/da)
b) If Si < 20000 af, Ri = 1000 cfs (2000 af/da)

3. All water entering the reservoir during the period Apr. 1
to Oct. 31 will be added to the conservation stora~e while
the conservation pool is in residence; otherwise all
measured inflows exceeding the irrigation requirement of
irrigators in Dist 67 by 1000 ac-ft per day will be stored
thus beginning conservation storage. Releases from
conservation storage at the specified rates wiil begin at
the first request for a release SA SF after March 31 or
beginning at 8:00 a.m. on AprIL 7, whichever occurs
first. After conservation storage is initiaily emptied,
releases of water subsequently stored will begin at the
first request for release or 48 hours after commencement
of conservation storage, whichever occurs first.

4. At such times as the conservation pooL is evacuated, the
natural rIver fiow wiii be released subject to the
conditIons in crIteria 3 above.

5. At such times as the conservation pool encroaches on the
fiood control space subject to the conditions In criteria
3 above, and as stated in criteria 1 above, water wiil be
released as required for fiood control purposes.

These are, in effect, the operating criteria for 30hn Martin
ReservoIr. For all practical Intents and purposes, these are the
operating principles.
