DEDICATION
J. Selby Young of
Colorado Springs, who served as the first President of the Distrid, and played
an important role in successful efforts to get the Congress of the United States
to authorize the construction of the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. He passed away
in Colorado Springs on December 12, 1990, and is survived by his widow,
Annabel, a son, a daughter, five grandchildren, and hvo great-grandchildren.
The picture below was taken on May 16, 1972, and shows Mr. Young and
Past President J. Sid Nichols capturing the first Fryingpan-Arkansas Project water
which flowed through the recently completed Charles H. Boustead Tunnel. This
event was particularly important in the life of President Young, because it
culminated many years of dreams and hard work in the form of a physical
structure which will provide supplemental water for citizens in his beloved
Arkansas Valley for years to come.

-,- -
...."7'

fRONT COVER- This historic pidure, featuring Pueblo Dam and Reservoir. was taken in May
1990 ~ MR.
