During thls period
ther have been able to show a marked Improvement by
decreasing the number of days "lost time" due to accldents
over any preCeding years of their organization.
In addition to this remarkable safety reeord, they
have been able to work a full 12 months without the
-registration 01 a fatality or electric burn of anY kind.
Our records. show, 10 addition to the all Importllnce 01
s~ving human lives, they have made a subsumtlal savings
to their bidividual projects.
Operation coasts, as an example, show total cost of
accidents in 1955 amounted to over $15,000 paid for
medical costs. It would be conservative to estimate this
Bill Buckner ligu're to be four times more if consideration were given ._
to the loss ,of production, damaged equipment, loss of service, etc.
A preliminary, figure for 1956 _can be expected not to ex~ ope-:fI1teenth
of 1955 ~ts, :rn other words, the pPljects will have at least $14,000 over,
for system Improvements or new equipment.
As member-owners of the project serving, you, It Is evident that safety
training la ,good sound business not to consider .the humane approach of
saving lives of thEl people who mak~ electrlc service possible.

Colorado's Governor-Eleot Stephen L.
