Major sources of water as Identified by WRC Accounting <br />Unit 21/ on the reservation and the number and name of the WRC <br />aggregated subreglon.32/ <br /> <br />The agencies have also Inventoried the estimated total amount of <br /> <br />water currently being used to carry out agency programs In each WRC <br /> <br />aggregated subregion. Those Inventories are also attached to this <br /> <br />report and show the following general Information: <br />I. Name and number of WRC subregion; <br /> <br />2. Agency administering the lands; <br /> <br />3. Total annual use of both surface and groundwater; <br /> <br />4. Total amount of seasonal water use for both surface <br /> <br />and groundwater and the period of use. <br /> <br />3. Cost Estimates. Each agency has estimated the minimum number <br /> <br />of years and the dollar amount necessary for a systematic, complete <br /> <br />Identification and quantification of federal water rights In the western <br /> <br />states. The results by agency fallow: <br /> <br />31/ Appendix 3, Map of Accounting Units of the National Water Data <br />Network, 1979, shows each of the WRC Accounting Units and also those <br />Accounting Units In which there Is currently litigation Involving <br />either or both Indian and non-Indian reserved water rights litigation. <br /> <br />32/ The Water Resources Council, In coordination with federal and state <br />agencies, has divided the Nation Into numbered hydrologic units by (I) <br />Reqlons (major hydrologic areas of the country), (2) Subreqlons (major <br />river basins), (3) Accountlnq Units (subdivisions of river basins), and <br />(4) Cataloqlnq Units (smallest divisions of drainage basins), In order <br />to facilitate the collection and storage of water resource data. All of <br />these units are shown on "Hydrologic Unit" maps prepared by the U.S.G.S. <br />The Task Force used the WRC Subregion and Accounting Unit designations In <br />gathering the water use data In order to facilitate the coordination of <br />federal water use Information with other water resource data Information <br />being compiled by federal, state and local entities. <br /> <br />-31- <br />
