Sparks, Director. <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item #3, Proposed Comments on Yellow Jacket v---- . <br />Project, Board Meeting January 15, 1969. <br /> <br />Under date of October 14, 1968, the Regional Director of <br />Region 4, Bureau of Reclamation, forwarded to us copies of his <br />proposed feasibility report on the Yellow Jacket Project. The <br />report was submitted to us for our informal review and comment <br />prior to the report being submitted to the Secretary of the In- <br />terior. Upon receipt of the report we transmitted it to other <br />interested state agencies and to the Yellow Jacket Water Conser- <br />vancy District. We have just recently received the comments of <br />the district. <br /> <br />The Yellow Jacket Project would encompass two principal <br />areas for development - one along Milk Creek in the Yampa River <br />drainage, and the other along White River near Meeker. The White <br />River segment would serve 15,740 acres of land with a full water <br />supply and 2,000 acres with a supplemental supply. The Milk Creek <br />segment would serve 4,180 acres with a full supply and 1.690 acres <br />with a supplemental supply. <br /> <br />The project would make an average of 117,200 acre-feet <br />of water available annually at the various points of diversion. <br />It is estimated that the project would deplete the flow of the <br />Colorado River by an average of 46,700 acre-feet of water annually. <br />Of this total depletion, 28,100 acre-feet would be chargeable to <br />irrigation, 18,200 acre-feet to municipal and industrial uses, and <br />400 acre-feet to miscellaneous purposes. <br /> <br />The total cost of the project, based upon January 1968 <br />prices, is estimated at $48,167,000.
