Two
other soils were represented in the 1975 study while one additional soil was
included in the 1976 study.

For 1975 data and again for 1976 data, each time increment, le, advance
period and runoff period, were segregated to provide, by soil series, the
following time weighted parameters: furrow seepage rate in ft/d, days per
irrigation, wetted perimeter in feet, row spacing in feet; and by calculation,
the net infiltration into the soil profile in inches.

Three summaries were developed representing the average, the least and
the greatest seepage rates. The least or greatest were based on either 1975
or 1976 while the average considers both years.

The soil profile infiltrations for the various soil series were then
weighted by respective ratio of total to provide the average infiltration per
irrigation for both the advance period and the runoff period.

A fourth sunnnary was developed which used the lowest individual seepage
rate, for each soil type, for the advance period and the runoff period. The
advance period and the runoff period did not have to correspond to the same
irrigation event. Time restraints were placed on advance time and runoff time
whereby advance time was less than or equal to 360 minutes and runoff time was
equal to or greater than 720 minutes. An additional restraint was imposed on
the advance application, i.e., it must be equal to or greater than the furrow
storage multiplied by 6.

To determine the probable number of irrigations in a season; crops,
acreage, evapotranspiration and precipitation were looked at for the years
1975 and 1976. Summary data are as follows:

Crops
Acres
58,660

ET
in
26.76

ASM
in
3.69

Eff.
