2942

-11-

Riverside Irrigation District. This system is most junior of all systems and relies
primarily for the summer water on the storage impounded during the vr.Lnter in River-
s~de Reservoir. 4ells are used more so the life is calculated at 15 years for amort~
ization purposes.

.,

Annual assessments canal and storage
per acre
Lateral costs from main canal to farm
Annual depreciation and repairs costs on
irrigation well (15 year life)
Power costs to operate well

~l.JO
.25

Total annual cost per acre

2.00
).00
$6.55

In comparison with Riverside Irrigation District Weldon Valley obtains the same
adequacy for $6.05 less. In 40 years a saving of J242 per acre. Riverside Irriga-
tion District water is =rently selling for ,)30 per acre, therefore, each acre of
Weldon Valley land is worth $272 per acre for water right values "hen compared to
Riverside Irrigation District land. Transposed into the 640 shares it will be $2720
per share or $1,740,800 for the system.

Compare now with land in the Vliggins area that is now irrigated wholly by irri-
gation wells. In the Wiggins ~rea the current costs of 'installing an irrigation
~ell is $6000. The life expectancy is 15 years. It must have a capacity of 1350
gallons per mi:mte to adequately take care of a 160 acre farm.

"
,

The annual costs to irrigate an acre of land in this area are as follows:

Annual depreciation and repair costs of
irrigation well (15 year life)
Annual power costs

.;$2.50
6.00

Total annual cost per acre

$8.50

The Weldon Valley Ditch does the same thing for ~8.00 an acre less annual cost.
Therefore, in a 40 year period the net cash ,saving is ::;;)20 per acre for each and every
l!cre of ./eldon Valley Land. Each share of ,;eldon Valley stock is worth $)200 in the
, above comparison or a total of $2,048,000 for the 640 shares.

Respectfully SUbmitted,

Weldona, Colo.

Ueldon Val~ Ditch Co.
R. J. Lamborn, Secretary
Conrad E. Schaefer, President

September 13, 1951
