Economic studies. - The economic studies prepared for the preliminary reconnaissance report consisted prinCipally of a review of the flood damage survey submitted qy the city of Trinidad. Economic studies, including a field investigation of the area subject to flood- ing, were made in connection with preparation of this project report in order to determine, (a) the economic conditions in the flood plaih, (b) the flood damages experienced, (c) the monetary benefits that would be creditable to the project, and (d) the ratio of project benefits to. project costs. An area of about 40 acres in the northl~estern and central sections of the city, having aproperty valuation of ~>1,860,000, would be protected, From these studies it was determined that the ratio of benefits to costs 1'01' the Pinon Canon Dam project would be 1..34:1.
