Title of Proposal: ASPINALL STUDY--Quantification of available habitat in <br />the Colorado River in relation to test flows released from the Aspinall <br />Unit. <br /> <br />II. Relationship to Recovery Progra~/Ranking Factors: <br /> <br />Determination of habitat and flow needs for rare fishes of the Colorado <br />Riyer basin is key to the success of the Recovery Implementation Program. <br />Further, quantification of habitat versus flow relationships in the <br />Colorado River will be critical to the biological opinion to be prepared <br />on operation of the Aspinall Unit. Colorado squawfish are found <br />throughout the Colorado River between Palisade, Colorado and the <br />confluence with the Green River. Humpback chub are found in two locations <br />in the river--Black Rocks and Westwater Canyon. Razorback sucker are <br />found in very low numbers in the upper portion of the Colorado River. <br />Proposals exist to augment the razorback sucker population in that area <br />with hatchery-produced fish. Part of the Biological Opinion on the <br />operation of the Aspinall Unit will be to provide flow recommendations for <br />
