~

.1

YII. Study Schedule (start/end by task): This proposed investigation will be
conducted primarily during the months of March through October for a
period of 5 years. This time frame is identified around a probable
spawning window of mid-Kay and early June. Adult humpback chub will be
equipped with radio transmitters in Karch and tracked during May and June.
Larval drift will be monitored shortly after spawning and nursery habitat
and recruitment will be assessed in spring, summer, and fall.

VIII. FY 1 Work

A. Oescrintion of Work:

Field work in FY 1 will be initiated in mid to late Karch with
radio-implant of 20 fish, which is expected to require 10 field
days. Radio-implsnting will be followed by two reconnaissance trips
each 2 field days to relocate the fish and assess their condition.
A 14-day tracking period will be conducted in Mayor June in an
attempt to locate spawning sites. Seining of age-O fish and habitat
mapping will be conducted monthly through early October. Drift
netting will be conducted concurrently with radiotracking to locate
spawning sites and assess larval transport. Sampling will be
coordinated in late August with the ISKP Humpback Chub Monitoring
Program to assess invasion of non-native species.

B. Deliverables:

Annual Summary Report containing all findings of FY 1, including (1)
movement of radiotagged fish, (2) identified spawning sites, (3)
description of spawning sites, (4) spawning site habitat maps, (5)
extent of larval drift, (6) nursery areas used by young chubs, and
(6) nursery habitat maps.

C.
