The two wells are rated at a combined 315 gallons
per minute and are operated using a 2 cfs (1.3 MGO) water right decreed in an
augmentation 1il1an which is based on a 1906 irrigation decree for the East River
No.2 ditch.

Treatment of approximately 11-14 MG per year consists of chlorinating the well
discharges. THe District has 0.4 MG of treated water storage but no raw water
storage. No expansion is slated for this system at this time.

About 150 existing residences are currently served, of which, 90 percent have full
time occupants. There are no commercial or industrial customers. The existing
well system is capable of serving about 500 residences. However, the water right
is sufficient to support 3,500 to 4,500 persons on a total of 783 building sites.

Sewage Treatment

The Crested Butte South wastewater treatment facility uses an extended aeration
activated sludQe process. Existing rated plant capacity is 0.05 MGD, while
average peak molithly flows are currently 0.025 MGD. An upgrading will include
a clarifier to raise the capacity from 0.05 MGD to the 0.08 - 0.09 MGO range.

The facility discharges to the East River. Some septic systems just downstream
of CB South leak to the groundwater, and there is a need to tie these into the
facility. Sludg~ is land applied. RTW has projected average peak monthly flows
of 0.213 MGDiby the year 2013 and 0.288 MGD by 2033. indicating a need for
significant plant enlargement.

Meridian Lake Subdivision

Water Supply

The Meridian Lake Homeowners Association maintains an independent water
supply for the subdivision. Raw water is collected from springs on the south
slope of Snodgrass Mountain under a 2.5 cfs (1.6 MGD), 1906 decree and

61

- u_ ~_~. ~,~

~
.,50-., "'.
