Chapter 2 - Define Water Supply & Water Ouality Needs

River Basin are shown in Table 3. Instresm flows help protect the use of water in
the basin for recreation, fisheries and maintenance of riparian wildlife habitat.
These uses include a significant number of man-days for fishing, birdwatching,
kayaking and cc.noeing. Riparian corridors, streams, ponds and other water bodies
are vitally important to wildlife. Included are flyways for birds, small burrowing
mammals use of stream banks, and the use of pondS and streams by beavers, elk,
deer, marmots, owls, bats, badgers and other wildlife. More thorough
descriptions of water uses for these purposes are contained in a 1993 report
prepared by Lynn Cudlip entitled "Description of Water Uses for Instreum Flows,
Wildlife, and Recreational Purposes."

50

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
