It'n!ft,~.. <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />CHAPTER 2 - Define Water Supply and Water Quality Needs <br /> <br />Section 1 - INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This chapter is the result of Task Number 2 of the East River Water Supply and <br />Water Quality Study (the Study). The objective of Task 2 was to define water <br />supply and water quality needs for the basin. The scope of the Study and <br />available fundi~g required that the Study be accomplished at an appraisal level of <br />detail (I.e. preceding feasibility). Because of financial and scope constraints, <br />emphasis was placed on the collection of existing information and reports, <br />followed by Iirrlited analysis of that existing information and reports. This work <br />has been supplemented with the development of descriptions of existing facilities <br />and some minOr data/information collection and development to provide the basis <br />for a summary of issues, problems and needs presented in this chapter. The <br />reader should note that a limitation of this study is that it was primarily based on <br />existing information and reports. Much of that information and the reports are <br />from the late t970's to about 1990 and may not reflect existing conditions or <br />present a totally accurate picture of current problems and needs in the basin. <br /> <br />Specific activities identified in the work plan for Task No.2 were as follows: <br /> <br />A. Identify water issues and problem areas <br />1 . Meet with water providers and users <br />2. Analyze existing information <br />3. Identify effects of point & non-point discharges <br />4. Perform trend analysis, if data available <br />5. Estimate existing monthly yield <br />6. Determine supportable level of water use <br />7. Summarize/prioritize issues, problem areas <br />B. Prepare base map and overlay <br />C. Identify water supply and water quality needs for range of water demand <br />levels <br />O. Prepare Task Memo No.2 <br />E. Revieyv Task Memo No.2 <br />F.
