Cudlip for the High Country Citizens' Alliance, Crested Butte, CO Date: 1992 Time of Study: April 1991 through April 1992 Sites: Nine sites including: Gunnison River below confluence of Taylor and East Rivers Taylor River above the reservoir at Rivers End CG Taylor River below the dam below bridge crossing Slate River immediately below confluence with Coal Creek East River above Roaring Judy Fish Hatchery East River below Roaring Judy Fish Hatchery Quartz Creek at Roosevelt CG Tomichi Creek below confluence with Marshall Creek Cochl:ltopa Creek immediately above confluence with Tomichi Creek Parameters measured: pH, Conductivity, DO, Temperature, Ammonia nitrogen, Nitrate nitrogen, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Total phosphorus, Soluble reactive phosphorus, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Aluminum, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Lead, Manganese, Molybdenum, Nickel, Selenium, Zinc. Metals measured in their dissolved form. Macroinvertebrates collected at each site (replicate of 5 surber samples) during July Purpose of Study: This study provides additional water quality data to the existing database and focuses on sites not necessarily sampled before, but reflecting land use activities. The collected data were compared to STORET data in a statistical manner. Samples for basic parameters and were collected on a quarterly basis. Samples for metals were collected once during the study period in the fall. Macroinvertebrates were sampled during July at each site. Other aspects of the study: The study also served as a means of getting citizens involved in taking part in a sampling program.
