Recreation Planning

Reclamation "in-house" recreation planning
capability was strengthened during fiscal
year 1975. Landscape architects are now
working in project offices in Provo, Grand
Junction, and in the regional office in Salt
Lake City. Much of their time is allocated to
participation in multi objective planning
(MOP) efforts and investigation of
preauthorized project studies related to
energy needs.

Recreation master plans are being prepared
for Strawberry and Fontenelle Reservoirs.
Site planning was completed for several
campgrounds. Addition of this expertise will
faciiitate many aspects of the program
including visual quality analysis in relation
to borrow areas, road locations, canal and
transmission line alignments, and other
developments. It will also provide much-
needed assistance in revegetation of
disturbed areas, landscaping of recreation
and administrative facilities, and working
drawings for Youth Conservation Corps
(YCC) projects.

Operations

With the addition of the newly completed
Soldier Creek Dam, the Bureau now
administers recreation facilities at two
reservoirs in the CRSP system.
During the early years of the initial filling of
Soldier Creek, temporary facilities will be
provided as the water rises. Permanent
facilities will be developed as the water
nears conservation pool level. Management
of Soldier Creek is administered by the
Office of Utah Activities with headquarters
in Provo, Utah.

Fontenelle Reservoir is administered by the
CRSP Power Operations Office with
headquarters in Montrose, Colo.
