<br />Page 5 <br /> <br />COMlNG EVENTS <br /> <br />October 26-27, 1973 <br /> <br />Annual Meeting of Oklahoma Water, Inc., <br />Black Angus Motel, Poteau, Oklahoma. <br /> <br />November 17-19, 1973 <br /> <br />Water Resources Congress Annual National Conference <br />and 1st Marine Engineering snd Technology Congress <br />St. Louis, Mo. <br /> <br />March 14-15, 1974 <br />LATE NEWS <br /> <br />Annual Meeting, ABDA, Fairmont Mayo Hotel, Tulsa, <br /> <br />--_ Regarding establishment of the Oklahoma National Recreation Area, from their <br />public notice dated October 12, 1973, <br /> <br />"The Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors is not convinced that designa- <br />t ion of these projec ts as a NRA would be appropriate at this time." <br /> <br />The Board found that the proposed ONRA fails to meet two of the essential <br />criteria of a National Recreation Area. <br /> <br />--- The Tulsa District Engineer will hold a public meeting at 7:00 p. m" November 20, <br />1973, in the Muskogee Civic Center on the land utilization plan for the McClellan- <br />Kerr Waterway in Oklahoma, <br /> <br />--- On October 17, 1973 two national water resource organizations (National Water- <br />ways Conference and Water Resource Congress) together with nine basin associations <br />filed suit in Federal District Court, Washington, D, C., against the Water Resources <br />Council seeking an injunction to stop implementation of the new stanqards and <br />principles for planning and evaluating water and related land resources. Arkansas <br />Basin Development Association has joined in the suit. <br /> <br />IN MEMORIAM <br /> <br />R. Otis McClintock, Life Member, Arkansas Basin Development Association <br />died in Tulsa, on Thursday, October 11, 1973, at the age of 82. Oilman, <br />banker, civic leader, the retired Chief Executive Officer of the First <br />National Bank and Trust Company, Tulsa, made his last public appearance <br />at the dedication of the Bank's new 41-Story First Tower on Friday, <br />October 5, 1973, <br />
