<br />00 <br /> <br />C.J <br />r- <br />( ~.~~ <br /> <br />(~; <br /> <br />(c <br /> <br /><z <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Coal occurs beneath the site in the lower Dakota sandstone and is <br />termed the Gunnison River district by Schwochow (1978). The <br />thickness of the coal is generally less than 3 feet. The coal is <br />apparently high-volatile B bituminous, even though Lohman (1965) <br />termed it lignite. Sand and gravel are found within the pediment <br />deposits on-site. Schwochow (1978) classifies the unevaluated <br />sources on-site as probable sand and gravel resources. However, <br />upon examining the material from an abandoned existing gravel pit <br />southeast of the site, it appears that the soundness of the <br />material is questionable. <br />
