,"'.. n C ~
~vi.J"J.

.

the relocation based on present day standards is $3,679,000. The
estimated cost of betterment is the difference, or $139,000.

County road relocations will involve construction of three-
fourths of a mile of new road and raising one and one-quarter miles
of existing road from the crest of the dam near the right abutment
and extending westward as shown on exhibit 2. Approximately 6 miles
of additional county road relocations are planned; however, the
exact locations cannot be defined at this time. The relocated roads
will have 24-foot asphalt surfaces as requested by the Morgan County
Commissioners. They are now reconstructing the county road affected
by the 2-mile relocation to this standard.

Transmission Line Relocations

Powerlines in and near the reservoir area consist of:
(1) The Morgan County Rural Electric Association System serving
the towns of Goodrich and Orchard in addition to many farms through-
out the area, (2) The Public Service Company line which primarily
serves the town of Weldona, and (3) Bureau of Reclamation Greeley-
Fort Morgan 115 kv transmission line. See exhibit 9.

.

The REA facilities within the area to be acquired for reser-
voir rights-of-way will be abandoned. In order to serve REA power
users north of the reservoir, it will be necessary to construct a
12.5 kv distribution line around the upper end of the reservoir.
A 12.5 kv line will be relocated around the right abutment of
Narrows Dam to provide service to the area south of the reservoir
and east of Kiowa Creek. These new lines will serve remaining
farms outside of the flood pool which were served by lines to be
abandoned.

All consumers served by the Public Service Company line north
of the damsite lie within the area to be acquired for the dam and
reservoir rights-of-way. Therefore, approximately 11 miles of this
line, from the damsite to the vicinity of Weldona, together with
power distribution facilities will be abandoned.

The Bureau of Reclamation Greeley-Fort Morgan 115 kv trans-
mission line, is entirely outside the reservoir area and will not
require relocation.

Telephone Line Relocations

As shown on exhibit 10, about 16 miles of the Fort Morgan-
Greeley telephone toll line, running west through the Weldona
exchange and along the north side of the South Platte River in

.

26
