eJ

e

e

." f"\ 1-"' ~::
{..v&v

The towns of Weldor~, Goodrich and Orchard are within the
take line. These are communities with estimated populations of less
than 100 that have shown little evidence of further development for a
number of years. They are not served by community water or sanita~J
sewer systems.

Flood easements will be obtained on lands outside the take
line established for all purposes and below the top of the flood
control pool, elevRtlun 4428.5, and no buildings in that area will
be used for human occupancy. Rights of ingress and egress for
lands covered by flood easements will be provided by the Govern-
ment where necessary.

Studies made by the U. S. Bureau of Mines showed that, in
October, 1965, there were 34 operating oil and gas wells remaining
out of about 108 which had been drilled below the elevation of the
top of the flood control pool in Narrows Reservoir site. Of these,
about 20 had significant primary reserves. It is planned to ac~uire
all operating wells and they would be capped or plugged. The estimated
cost of acquisition was based on the value of the recoverable primary r
reserves and the secondary reserves as estimated by the Bureau of
Mines. The cost estimate also includes funds for locating and capping
abandoned wells which may not have been properly capped and for
acquiring and abandoning gathering pipelines to the wells to be
purchased. It also includes the cost of acquiring and abandoning
the Arapahoe Pipeline Company's pipeline within the reservoir after
relocation of their pumping station to a new location below the dam.

General Property

General property costs include funds for the superintendent's
residence, office and shop at Narrows Dam; general service equipment;
and communications facilities. They also include funds for recreation
and fish and wildlife development including land and rights, facilities,
and rehabilitation of Jackson Lake Dam.

Cost Estimates

Total Costs

The total cost of the Narrows Unit is shown on the Basic Estimate,
DC-l Summary, exhibit 3. Detailed costs are shown on the Basic Esti-
mate, DC-l's, exhibit 11.

9

Revised July 1966
