Basin

The Fish and Wildlife Service provided a briefing to the Implementation
Committee of the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fishes Implementation Program
at its January 27, 1993, meeting. I have attached a copy of the handout materials for
your review. At this point, the Service expects to distribute an "updated biological
report," which will include the designation of proposed flows, and economic impact
evaluation for this "critical habitat" designation in June of this year. They expect to
be able to finalize this proposed rule making process in September of this year.

No one knows what effect this will have on our Recovery Implementation
Program although it is a safe bet that it won't make things any easier! There are a
great many questions which the Service is not able to answer at this point. However,
as I hear additional information I will pass it along to you.

PE/gl
Attachment
cc: Gene Jencsok
Eddie Kochman
Bob Caskey
Dick Stenzel
Trish Bangert

gl04I73.llr
