Bureau of Reclamation at Parker Dam continued until Octo-
ber I, 1948. The temporary substation at Gene pumping plant,
through which such power was delivered, was sold to the Office of
Indian Affairs and moved b)' that agency to a new location adjacent
to Parker power plant.

Parker Dam aud PUlI;C!' pl({nt

The installation of equipment and beginuiug of operation of
Parker power plant were described in the Fifth Annual Report.
The plant, containing four generating units with a total capacity
of 120,000 kva, was placed in operation by the U. S. Bureau of
Reclamation during the fiscal year 1942-43. Construction by the
Bureau of Reclamation during 1943-44 consisted of the comple-
tion of access roads to the power plant and switchyard, painting
of equipment. and completion of miscellaneous items of auxiliary
equipment and of the interior finish of the building.
Work was continued on dredging' the river channel downstream
from Parker Dam in order to lower the river level and add to the
available head and power output of the plant.
The United States continued the use of District units 3 and 4,
and as provided in the supplemental contract of July 19, 1943,
credited the District with $475.00 per day for each unit toward the
amortization of the District's portion of the cost of the power plant.
The Bureau of Reclamation maintained the water surface of
Lake Havasu between elevation 445 feet and the full reservoir
elevation of 450. The lower water level was maintained during
the early spring months to provide storage for possible tloods from
tributaries above Parker Dam. principally the Bill Williams River.
Energy generated at Parker power plant during the fiscal year
ending June 30, 1944 is given in the following operating wrnmary
of the Parker system:

r,r(l~;' t:rll'rg:y g:~neraled..
ErH:rg:y [lllrdl;]~c'J

KWHH
. . ...............732,637,00U
4.\.4 n,04Y

Tlltal ~el1l"ralt'd and pur{'hll::'t.'d .

32a. 100.049

Energ\' ~l)ld
Ener~}' f..r staliHIl 1I~~
LII~H'~ in .;;y.;;\ern .

Tot<ll

. ............ .iSY,3RS,013
1.04.\,000
.... 67,670,1116
... .
