Water Year 1996

Under most probable inflow conditions during tbe 1996
water year, the Lake Mead water level is expected to
gradually rise to an elevation of 364.5 meters (1195.5 feet)
with a corresponding active storage of 27,475 million cubic
me1ers (22,274,000 acre-feet) by the end of March. Tben it
will be drawn down during the summer months to meet
downstream demands. Lake Mead is expected to end the
water year at elevation 364.0 meters (1194.08 feet) with an
active storage of 27,221 million cubic meters (22,068,000
acre-feet). Approximately 11,659 million cubic meters
(9,452,000 acre-feet) are scheduled to be released from Lake
Mead under most probable conditions, all passing through
the powerplant.

The outlook for lowest and highest monthly releases of 1996
will be about 405 million cubic meters (328,000 acre-feet)
and 1,443 million cubic meters (1,170,000 acre-feet),
respectively.

DrawdoWD during the peak large mouth bass spawning
period in April and May, is planned to be near the limits of
decline recommended in a July 1982 fInal report by the
Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Nevada
Department of Wildlife. That report summarized results of
a 5-year study and recommended a drawdown rate of less
than 5 centimeters (2 inches) per day.

ACTUAL STORAGE 1885

IlWON CU81C llIeTIM
00

IIILLlON ACRI-FEIT

U
II
~ - -- - - - - - - -
..
II

'S

so

..

I.

':F ./ /'" , , .r ;f ..~ ~ ~ , ,,.

16

MOST PROBABLE RELEASES 1896

IlILUON CUIIC IiIITEM
....

TNOUIAMD ACAWlEET

4S'

- .
.......
