' f'J"tR <br />'AT/ON BOARD <br /> <br />Methods and Discussion: <br /> <br />Twenty-four sal inity sensors were instal led in the Davi5 peach <br /> <br />orchard located in Palisade, Colorado, on June 26, 1975, according to the <br /> <br />following treatments: <br /> <br /> Type of Distance <br />Position Irrigation From Tree <br />la Drip 2 feet <br />lb Drip 5 feet <br />2a Drip 2 feet <br />2b Dri p 5 feet <br />3a Furrow 2 feet <br />3b Furrow 5 feet <br /> <br />All sensors were located in the tree line, and south of each observed <br /> <br />tree_ At each location, the sensors were placed at depths of 1-, 2-, 3-, <br /> <br />and 4-feet. In the drip irrigated field the nearest emitter to the <br /> <br />sensors was located 31 feet from the tree, and between the two sensor <br /> <br />locations. The sensors were read preiodically from July 23, 1975 to <br /> <br />October I, 1975. At the end of the growing season the sensors were <br /> <br />removed for laboratory recalibration. <br /> <br />Figure <br /> <br />presents the averaged data for the drip irrigated field <br /> <br />observations; salinity in mmhos/cm at 250 is plotted vs. days. The drip <br /> <br />system was started on June 12, 1975, and operated every other day until <br /> <br />September' II, 1975. Approximately 4000 gallons of water per tree was <br /> <br />appl ied.
