<br />002HC <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Initial cap~city of the A.V.C. was probably 90 to 100 cfs. <br />By careful and expensive maintenance and operation a diversion cap'.city <br />of 70 cfs. has been available throur;hout the period of the records here- <br />in analyzed. <br />The A.V.C. leads to Reservoirs 1,'!2 and {3, located on Salt Creek, <br />about seven miles south of the City of PUeblo ,,,;.1 about four miles south <br />of the steel plant. Po third and smaller reservoir known as Lake ICinnequa <br />is located nearer tho plant. Hinor additional supplies of ,';ator are ob- <br />timed under direct flovl md flood ,-rater rights from the St. Charles River, <br />and from local runoff from rains on the catchment areJ of S~lt Creek. <br />Also certain additional amounts of water are derived at the plant by pump- <br />ing from the Bessemer Ditch !\nd by purchase from Public Water '.lorks Dis- <br />trict #2 of the City of Pueblo. <br />Fal. rly complete reoords are maintained by the Wate'r Deparlment <br />as to all of its various sources and uses of the vmter supplyo These <br /> <br />records are compiled in terms of millions-of-gallons, which units have <br /> <br />been co~verted to acre feet, for purposes of this analysis. <br /> <br />:"l1th respect to the diversions of the A,V.C.; they are mea- <br />sured at or near the A.V.C. headgate.
