Fort Collins.

.

To your west is a replica of the original Ft.
Collins. The fort was established here after the
first camp near Laporte was demolished by a flood
in 1864. The fort was established to guard the
Overland Trail from Indians. It was expected to
become an important western fort, but Indian
problems diminished here and the fort was
subsequently disbanded in 1867.

.

This military establishment marked the start of
what today is the thriving City of Ft. Collins.
The fort was reconstructed in 1976 as part of the
Bicentennial Celebration. It is open to the
public and you are welcome to visit and learn
more about the post.

.

.

.

.
