<br />Location.--Water-stage recorder, lat 37041'22", long 106-027'38", in NW\ sec. 29, T. 40 N., R. 5 E.,
<br />on right bank, 20 ft downstream from county highway bridge, 6 miles west of Del Norte, and
<br />6.8 miles upstream from Pinos Creek. Datum of gage is 7,980.25 ft above mean sea level, datum of
<br />1929. Prior to May 16, 1908, staff gage at site 4 miles downstream. Records are equivalent.
<br />Drainaqe area.--l,320 sq mi, approximately.
<br />Averaqe discharqe.--91 years (1890-1980), 898 ft3/s (650,600 acre-ft per year).
<br />Extremes.--1889-1980: Maximum discharge{ 18,000 ft3/s Oct. 5, 1911 (gage height, 6.80 ft), from
<br />rating curve extended above 12,900 ftj/s; minimum daily, 69 ft3/s Aug. 21, 1902.
<br />Remarks.--Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Flow regulated by four
<br />reservoirs, total capacity 126,100 acre-ft. and by several smaller ones. Six transmountain
<br />diversions import water into basin above station.
