Location.-Water-stage recorder, tat 36034'48", long 106043'24u, in Tierra Amarilla Grant, on left bank 1.5 miles downstream from El Vado Dam, 2.8 miles upstream from Rio Nutrias, and 13 miles southwest of Tierra Amarilla Datum of gage is 6,696.12 ft above mean sea level, datumofl929, Prior to October 1935, atslte L5 miles upstream and October 1935 to September 1938, at site Ll miles upstream at different datums. Drainage area.-1J17 sq ml of which about 100 sq mi is probably noncontributing. Average dlscharge,-4 years (1914,1921-23), 444 fi'/s (321,700 acre-It per year) prior to completion of EI Vado Dam; 35 years (1936-70), 372 fi'/s (269,500 acre-It per year), prior to release of transmountain water; 21 years (1971-91) 465 fi'/s (336,900 acre-It per year). Extremes.-1914-16, 1920-24, 1936-91: Maximum discharge observed, 9,000 fi' Is May 22, 1920 (gage height, 12 It); no flow Mar. 25, 26, 31, 1955. Remarks.-~cords good. Diversions above station for irrigation of about 10,600 acres. Since 1935 flow regulated by HI Vado Reservoir and since October 1970 flow partly regulated by Heron Reservoir. Subsequent to May 1971 flow affected by releases of transmountain water from Heron Reservoir.
