<br />Location.-Water-stage recorder, lat37"04'42", long 105045'22", in sec. 22, T. 33 N., R II E., on right bank at highway bridge, 6 mlles
<br />north of Colorado-New Mexico State line, 10 miles east of labatos, and 14 miles east of Antonito. Datum of gage is 7,427.63 ft above
<br />mean sea level, datum of 1929.
<br />Drainaee area.-7,700 sq mi, approximately (includes 2,940 sq mi in closed basir\ in San Luis VaUey).
<br />Average discharge.-31 years (1900-30), 846 W Is (612,900 acre-It per year); 61 years (1931-91) 448 It' Is (324,600 acre-It per year).
<br />Extremes.-1899-1991: Maximum discharge observed, 13,200 It'/s June 8, 1905 (gage height, 9.1 ft), from rating curve extended above
<br />8,000 It'/s; no flow at times in 195<1-51, 1956.
<br />Remarks.-Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Natural flow of stream affected by transmountain diversions,
<br />storage reservoirs, ground-water withdrawals and diversions for ilTigation. and return flow from irrigated areas.
