Alfalfa, Major, Garfield and <br />Kingfisher counties. Purpose is to provide watershed protection <br />and flood prevention for a drainage area of 239,000 acres (373 <br />sq. miles) by installing retarding structures and land treatment <br />measures. Authorized for planning 5-22-75. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5. Hoyle Creek, Oklahoma. Major County. Purpose is to pro- <br />vide watershed protection and flood prevention on a drainage area <br />of 36,768 acres (52 sq. miles) by installing floodwater retarding <br />8 true tures. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Soil Conservation Service - Resource Conservation and Develop- <br />ment Projects: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1. Ouachita Mountain Area, Oklahoma. Haskell, Pittsburg, <br />Latimer, LeFlore, Pushmataha, McCurtain and Choctaw counties. <br />(See Map 2) The purpose is to expand the economic opportunities <br />for the people of an area consisting of 5,366,552 acres (8,338 sq. <br />miles) by developing and carrying out a plan of action for the <br />orderly conservation, improvement, development and wise use of <br />all their natural and human resources.
