<br />00 <br />CO <br />C"? <br /> <br />Evaluation Area E - Soils <br /> <br />Soils of this evaluation area are deep with medium to fine texture, moderate <br />to slow permeability, and slopes ranging from 1 to 6 percento There is a <br />small acreage with a high water table problem but slope, as it affects the <br />soil erosion potential, is the significant criterian for capability classi- <br />fication of these soilso There are 160 acres or 88 percent of the soils <br />in capability class III and 21 acres or 12 percent in capability class II. <br /> <br />Evaluation Area F - Soils <br /> <br />This evaluation area is comprised of deep, medium to fine textured soils <br />with moderate to slow permeability. Slopes range from 1 to 12 percent, but <br />the majority of the soils have slopes ranging from 6 to 12 percent. About <br />50 percent of the acreage is underlaiL '1y gravel between 20 and 48 inches. <br />'There are a few acres of soil wi th saline, alkali and water problems. Also, <br />there is Ii small acreage of moderately stony soilso However, the major <br />problem affecting the capability classification of these soils is moderately <br />steep slopes. All the soils, comprising the 171 acres, in this evaluation <br />area are grouped into capability class IVo <br /> <br />Evaluation Area G - Soils <br /> <br />This evaluation area is comprised of deep, medium to fine textured soils <br />with moderate to slow permeability and slopes ranging from 1 to 6 percent. <br />About 25 percent of the acreage is underlain Py gravel at a depth of 48 <br />inches. The major problem significant to the capability classification of <br />soils is slope as it effects the soil erosion potentia10 There are 285 <br />acres or 84 percent of the soils grouped into capability class III and 56 <br />acres or 16 percent grouped into capability class 110 <br /> <br />Evaluation Area H - Soils <br /> <br />Soils comprising this evaluation area are deep with medium to fime texture, <br />moderate to slow permeability, and slopes rangimg from 3 to 12 percento <br />About 40 percent of the acreage is underlain by gravel at depths between <br />20 and 48 inches. There is a small acreage which is moderately stony, but <br />the soil problems significant to capability classification are fine tex- <br />tures and moderately steep slopes. All the soils in this evaluation area <br />(346 acres) are grouped into capability class IV. <br /> <br />Findings <br /> <br />It is concluded that soils comprising the 6,597 acres of land designated <br />by the Bureau of Reclamation as the Silt Project, which have been inter- <br />pretively grouped into capability classes II-l,400 acres, 1II-2,997 acres, <br />and IV-2,200 acres, are suitable for cultivation under irrigation. <br /> <br />- 13 - <br />
