FY-98 Tasks and Deliverables: Tasks 1-5. <br /> <br />Task 1a. Capture juvenile and adult Colorado pikeminnow: implant <br />radio transmitters. <br />Task lb. Radiotag up to five adult Colorado pikeminnow caught in the <br />Redlands Diversion Dam fishway trap or from the 2.3-mile <br />reach of the lower Gunnison River immediately downstream of <br />the Redlands Diversion Dam (added on for 1998). <br />Task 1b completed. <br /> <br />Task 2. Deploy automated radiotelemetry system, monitor movements of <br />radiotagged fish. download and operate radiotelemetry system. <br />Task completed. <br /> <br />Task 3. Monitor fish trap; sort. examine. and enumerate all fish; <br />clean trash and debris from trash racks. bar screens, fish <br />trap, and fishway entrance. <br />Task completed. <br /> <br />Task 4. Analyze and evaluate data; prepare annual progress report. <br />Task completed. <br /> <br />B. Findings (1998 Highlights) <br /> <br />Fish Passaae <br /> <br />1. Twenty-three sub-adult and adult Colorado pikeminnow were <br />collected in the fish trap of the fish passageway at the <br />Redlands Diversion Dam. Eight fish were collected in July <br />and the remaining 15 in August (Appendix: Figure 1). This <br />use pattern was similar to that in 1997 in which 4 fish were <br />found in the fish trap in July and 14 in August. On six <br />separate occasions. multiple captures of pikeminnow were <br />recorded during the same day during 1998. Two pikeminnow <br />were collected in the trap each on 16 July and 6. 8, and 13 <br />August. Three pikeminnow were found in the trap each on 1 <br />and 7 August (Table 1). <br /> <br />CAP.4B.2 <br />
