Most <br />common rock types are sandstone, shale, alluvial sand, and gravel, with <br />igneous rock capping the top of Grand Mesa. Age, thickness, and lithology of <br />the local rock units are summarized in the stratigraphic column (table 2). A <br />hydrogeologic map of the study area with areal extent of exposed rock units is <br />shown on plate 2. <br /> <br />6 <br />
