<br />~r:~...,~n <br />t:.-.i....~_.,_d <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Grey Mounta.1n nun and Reservoir <br /> <br />The active capacity of Grey Mounta.1n Reservoir would be <br />200,000 acre-feet and its inactive capacity 20,000 acre-feet. <br />The Ir.~Y-\m"ln water surface elevation would be 5,626 feet, and <br />the top of the dead storage would be elevation 5,424- feet. The <br />surface area of' the dead storage pool would be 380 acres. The <br />surface area when the reservoir is :full would be 1,800 acres. <br /> <br />The dam would be an earth and rock-fill structure with the <br />upstream face riprapped. Its height above stream bed would be <br />about 375' feet, and the crest length would be 1,550 f'eet. A <br />concrete-lined chute spillway with a capacity of 90,000 cf's, a <br />I1Jl,ted inJ.et, and a stilling basin would. originate in a sad.dJ.e <br />just left of the left abutment. The outlet works would consist <br />of' a tunnel, gate cbamber, gates, steel pipe and valve house and <br />would have a capacity of' 4,000 cfs. The tunnel, 1/"h1ch is <br />through the left abutment, 1/"ould also serve as a diversion tunnel. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Irrigation releases to the North Poudre Supply Ca.na.l 1/"ould <br />be made by modifying Tunnel NO.2, an existing structure leading <br />eastward to the plains from the reservoir area. The municipal <br />waterworks of' Fort Collins at an estimated cost 01' $1,755,000 <br />would be relocated along the soutll side of the river belov the <br />dam. Existing telephone and REA pover lines would be relocated <br />nee.r the State Highway No. 14 relocation, south of the <br />reservoir. <br /> <br />Transmission Lines and Substations <br /> <br />The Cache la Poudre Poverplant is to be the center of' power <br />operations. A power line leading to the Cache la Poudre switchyard. <br />from Idylwilde switchyard. would, therefore, be required. This <br />115 IN Idylwilde line would be 22 miles in length. Five 115 I<:V <br />l:I.nes each 13 miles in length would be required from the Cache la <br />poudre Poverplant Swi tchyard to a substation near Fort Collins, <br />Colorado. From this substation two 115 KV 11nes, each having a <br />length of' 31 miles, would be required to tie into the existing <br />substation at the edge of' Greeley, Colorado. Same additions <br />would be required at the Fort Co1l1ns Substation. <br /> <br />Communication Equipment <br /> <br />Idylwilde Powerplant would be operated by remote control <br />from the Cache la Poudre Poverplant, Carrier current equipment <br />at both poverplants and a telemetering circuit would be used to <br />start, syDclu'Oniz.e and cont.l'o]. the generators at Idylwilde <br />Powerplant. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />8 <br />
