<br />The Directors of this District have closely followed the development of the
<br />usage of electric analog and digital computers for the past several years. On
<br />behalf of the Board, I visited the U.S.G,S, analog laboratory in Phoenix with the
<br />late Leonard Kuiper when the Water Conservation Board was considering a model for
<br />the Arkansas Valley,
<br />
<br />We were pleased when Ted Moulder returned to Colorado as District Chief for
<br />U.S.G,S. and commenced an active campaign for the necessary work to be done in
<br />the South Platte Valley.
<br />
<br />Certainly, it Is regretable that the last Legislature did not see fit to
<br />provide the matching funds to proceed with the most vitally nceded study of the
<br />South Platte.
<br />
<br />The viewpoint of your board is commendable and I know that our Directors
<br />share in the concern over a cessation of the study pro r at this time, The ./.-;.,?
<br />Board met just last Friday and wi II not convene until June 12. Your message and
<br />questions will be placed on our agenda for that date, recognize that this does
<br />not fulfill your request for an answer prior to the end of this month. However,
<br />it is a matter which would require not only a policy decision of the Directors
<br />but one of readjusting currently budgeted funds should they decide upon monetary
<br />participation in the study program.
