<br />N <br />J-i, <br />m <br />00 <br /> <br />5-2 Summary <br /> <br />keeps pace with water resources development. <br />Reclamation estimates that about 1.5 million <br />tons of salt per year will need to be removed by <br />the year 2010 to maintain average salinity below <br />the numeric criteria level of 879 milligrams per <br />liter (mg/L) at Imperial Dam. To meet this <br />objective, several new units within the salinity <br /> <br />control program will need to be constructed <br />between 1990 and 2010. Even with these <br />controls in place, there will still be temporary <br />excursions above the numeric criterion of <br />879 mg/L due to the natural variations in <br />climatic conditions, hydrology, and water usage. <br />
