Delivery of <br />about three-quarters of a two pump flow of 400 cubic feet per second <br />was received during slightly less than two months of the year. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Pipe lhte.'; a-nd I'e.sef'voiys <br /> <br />The upper feeder. consisting of precast concrete pipe, steel pipe. <br />tunuels, and cast-in-place concrete canyon crossings extends 61.2 <br />miles from Lake Mathews to the Eagle Rock control tower on the <br />westerly boundar;' of the City of Pasadena. The capacity of the <br />upper feeder is 750 cubic feet per second to the San Dimas turnout <br />and 510 cubic feet pcr second from that poiut to Eagle Rock. Near <br />La Verne in Los Angeles County the flow of the upper feeder is <br />diverted into the water softening and filtration plant where the <br />water is softened and filtered, and returned to the upper feeder for <br />distribution to District areas. The City of Pasadena b supplied <br />from the Pasadena tlllll1el of the upper feeder through a riser pipe <br />at Mountain Street and Manzanita A venue and through a second <br />outlet near the easterly city boundary at Sierra Madre Villa Avenue. <br />Two additional connections for Pasadena at West Drive in the <br />Arroyo Seca and at the city's Hastings re~ervoir now under con- <br />struction have not yet been used. A lateral to serve San Marino <br />from the upper feeder was completed during the year, but connec- <br />tion to the privately owned system supplying the city has not been <br />made. <br />There are at pre"ent three main branches extending from the <br />upper feeder southerly _ and westerlLinto the InetropolitalLarea, _ <br />- with laterals as required to carry water to the member agencies. <br />The Orange County branch takes off from the upper feeder at the <br />softening plant turnout structure and run~ in a southerly direction <br />40,3 miles to connect with the existing Laguna Beach main supply <br />line near Corona del Mal', Direct connections are made from the <br />Orange County line to the city s;'otems of Brea and Newport Beach, <br />constituents of Coastal Municipal Water District. and to Fullerton, <br />Anaheim and Santa Ana. Two reservoirs on this line, the Orange <br />County and Corona del Mar. with capacities of 200 and 15 acre-feet, <br />respectively. provide storage and flow regulation. <br />The Palos Verdes branch !'Uns southerly and westerly from Eagle <br />Rock tower 3l.1) miles to the Palos Verdes reservoir near the Los <br />Angeles-Long Beach harbor area.
