',"'"')

~ I~as 97.2 percent but during limited storage and ri verflow periods it
c...)
W was only 40.5 percent. The last column of table 8 shows the annual

trap efficiency of the reservoir since October 1942. The annual figures

ranged from zero percent in 1964 to 99 percent in several years. The

trap efficiency for the period October 1942 through March 1972 was
computed to be 87.5 percent.

S~IARY AND CONCLUSIONS

41. Summary. Results of the latest resurvey including the trends,
conclusions and recommendations are summarized in the following paragraphs.

This is the ninth resurvey of the sediment ranges at John ~Iartin Reservoir

since the original survey of April 1942. The total reservoir depletion

has been 80,449 acre-feet for an average annual depletion of 2,682 acre-

feet. This has been 11.46 percent of the original capacity. Depletion of

the flood control pool (above elevation 3,851.0) has been 8,264 acre-feet

or 3.00 percent. Depletion of the conservation pool (below elevation

3,851.0) has heen 72,185 acre-feet or 17.1 percent. The highest 'reservoir

elevation has been 3,856.16 feet. This was 25 August 1965. Reservoir

stages for the period of operation are shown on plate 2. Operation of the

reservoir since April 1968 has been for irrigation storage from November

through March and inflow equal to outflow for the remaining period sub-

sequent to depletion of irrigation storage except for short duration storages

when runoff was high.

19
