For: 11. C. llinderlider, State Engineer;

From, C. 1.. Patterson, Chief Engineer,
Colorado Water Conservation Board;

Re, Arkansas River and Caddoa Reservoir Opere.tion:

1. As of May 22, 1943 there was 16.892 acre-feet of water in storace
available for release from Caddoa Reservoir, according to our re-
vised area-capacity table.

2. Charges against Colorado by reason of addi tional diversions made
by ditches upstream, during the period April 1 to Day 21, 19lJ3,
have resulted in an aocumulated credit to Kansas of 8,068 AF., as
indi cnted "by the attaohed table.

3.

At c.~rrent rates, with infloVls approximating 35 ofs. and releases
averaging 375 cfs., storage VQll decline at a rate of about 680
AF/day; and with Purgatoire in1'low zero and I.a Junta flows averag-
ing about 53 cfs., charges against Colorado end credits to Kansas
are inoreasing at the rate of about 760 AF/day.

.J

4. Unless conditions are changed by plains rainfall and runoff in the
meantime, the charges against Colorado ~~ll have increased, and
reservoir storage will have declined, in a period of about 6 days, -
i.e. by Day 27th, - to a value approximating 12,700 AP., at whioh
time the storage supply to Colorado's credit will have been ex-
hausted, and all the water remaining in the reservoir must be re-
served 1'or Kansas and released when and as requested.

5. When the above mentioned status is reached, the administration of
vater rights along the river will revert to the priority basis, and
will be the same as though Caddoa reservoir had not been constructed
or was empty, except that it will be necessary thereafter, until
another supply accumuletes to Colorado's credit, to impose limita-
tions on the diversicns made by dovnstream ditches in order to prevent
depleti onS of tr,e waters relee-sed to Kansas. *"
