Hunter <br />Speetal 10 The DtnverPcst <br />One of the long-running water wars in the San <br />Luis Valley is over, thanks to a historic agreement <br />crafted by federal. state and local officials over <br />water rights in two of southern Colorado's national <br />forests. <br />The agreement, announced Wednesday at the <br />state Capitol by Attorney General Ken Salazar. will <br />protect farmer and rancher rights to the Rio <br />Grande's watershed and save U.S. taJ:payers mil. <br />HOM of dollars by avoiding court battles involving <br />303 streams in the Gunnison and Rio Grande na- <br />tionallorests. <br />'Historic moment' for valley <br />"This is a historic moment for the San Luis Val- <br />ley," said Lewis Entz, who represented the vaney <br />for 16 years in the state LegIslature.
