<br />00lJ7~ <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This report supports the Mountain Plains Federal Regional Council publi- <br />cation, Socioeconomic Impacts and Federal Assistance in Energy Development <br />Impacted Communities, Federal Region VIII, distributed in July of 1975. <br />The report includes complete data relevant to that section of the earlier <br />report on Federal funding assistance to energy development impacted communi- <br />ties during FY 1975. <br />Federal assistance was classified as direct and indirect. For the <br />purpose of this report, direct funding refers to those Federal grants and <br />loans which were identified as going directly to the energy impacted communi- <br />ties; indirect funding is identified as those grants and loans received <br />by State and regional programs of benefit to imoacted communities. <br />Federal assistance as listed in this report is limited to discretionary <br />funding. Discretionary funding refers to either project grants. direct <br />payments, direct loans, guaranteed loans, or provision of specialized <br />services. <br />In the introduction Table A summarizes the subseauent data. Also <br />included in the introduction is a listing of R & D and technical assistance <br />projects having a long-range benefit for impacted communities. <br />Parts I and II, respectively, are summaries of direct and indirect <br />Federal funding to the communities. The tables within Parts I and II are <br />presented in a composite form and by individual states. <br />Parts III and IV, respectively, are tables displaying direct and in- <br />direct Federal funding to the communities. Part III represents communi~y/ <br />agency direct funding. Part IV represents state wide Dr county/agency <br />indirect funding to impacted communities. <br />
