<br />2. Location <br /> <br />The Dallas Creek Project is located in the Uncompahgre River Valley <br /> <br />in western Colorado. Project features are located in Ouray County while <br /> <br />project water would benefit Ouray, Delta, and Montrose Counties. Figure 1 <br /> <br />shows the project area. <br /> <br />3. Project Plan <br /> <br />A complete description of the Dallas Creek Project can be found in <br /> <br />the Dallas Creek Project Final Environmental Impact Statement (Bureau of <br /> <br />Reclamation, 1976). <br /> <br />The project consists of Ridgway Reservoir on the <br />\ <br /> <br />Uncompa~5re River, two public recreation areas at the reservoir, measures to <br /> <br />enhance fishing opportunities, and measures to' mitigate wildlife habitat <br /> <br />losses. A major highway, power transmission lines, and telephone lines are <br /> <br />Through storage regulation at Ridgway Reservoir, the project will increase <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />11 <br />t- <br /> <br />being relocated around the reservoir. <br /> <br />f <br />!-; <br /> <br />usable water supplies by an average of 39,400 acre-feet annually. The Iri-County Water Conservancy District <br /> <br />Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation will manage wildlife and <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br />~ <br />~ <br />l; <br />~ <br /> <br />will operate Ridgway Dam while the Colorado Division'of Wildlife and the <br /> <br />recreation areas respectively. <br /> <br />iii" <br />~ <br /> <br />::!: <br /> <br />Ridgway Reservoir will have a total capacity of 80,000 acre-feet. An <br /> <br />additional surcharge capacity of 9,230 acre-feet will be provided to temporarily <br /> <br />contain flood flows until discharged through the spillway.
