-
It is not possible, however, to accurately predict the location and

timing of the use of the remainder of Colorado's entitlement. For example

development could occur along the Colorado mainstem, the Yampa drainage,

the San Juan drainage, or other drainages. In addition to the Dallas Creek

Project, other developments could occur in the Gunnison River drainage.

For example the authorized Fruitland Mesa Project could deplete the river

by approximately 21,000 acre-feet. The Draft Environmental Statement on

the Gunnison Wild and Scenic River Study (National Park Service, 1979)

describes several other potential water developments on the Gunnison River.

\
:1

In addition the Bureau is studying the feasibility of the Dominguez Project

"

on the Gunnison River near Whitewater and the Lower Gunnison Salinity Control

Unit in the Uncompahgre Valley. Private and public projects are also

being investigated on the Colorado River mainstem. For example the Bureau

is completing definite plan studies on the authorized West Divide Project

near Rifle, Colorado and the Grand Valley Salinity Control Unit near Grand

Junction, 'Colorado. In addition numerous private developments are contemplated.

Obviously all of these projects will not be constructed, but a determination

cannot be made of which ones will be constructed 'and therefore prediction

t
,I

of future flows in the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers are speculative.
