(5) Impact Analysis

Because the native fishes discussed in this assessment are not reported

from the Uncompahgre River, this analysis deals only with the Gunnison and

Colorado Rivers. The Gunnison River is located approximately 51 river miles

downstream from Ridgway Dam, the Whitewater gage on the Gunnison is approximately

92 river miles downstream, and the Gunnison's confluence with the Coloraao

River is approximately 107 miles downstream.

Table 2 shows the pre- and post- Dallas Creek Project flows at Whitewater

on the Gunnison River. Appendix B contains more detailed flow information.

Whitewater is near the area of the most recent collection of Colorado squawfish

upstream from the Redlands Diversion and most certainly was historical habitat

for the Colorado squawfish and razorback sucker. The flows have all the

existing upstream projects factored in and thus give a reliable indication of

the impacts of the Dallas Creek Project on the Gunnison River drainage. The

table indicates that there will be only a very slight reduction in flow from

September through June and a very slight increase in flow in July and August.
