<br />.- <br />.,..,) <br />~'Salinity Upda <br /> <br />Recommended Plan Selected at <br />Dirty Devil <br /> <br />On February 26, 1985, a planning <br />conference to review the plan formulation <br />working document for the Dirty Devil River <br />Unit was held in Durango, Colorado, with <br />siaff from the Washington Office, <br />Engineering and Research Center, and <br />Upper Colorado Regional Office, The <br />recommended plan for the unit will be the <br />deep-well injection of brine at Hanksville <br />South Salt Wash near Hanksville, Utah, and <br />at Emery South Salt Wash near Emery and <br />Green River, Utah, <br />The Dirty Devil River contributes <br />approximately 155,000 tons of salt annually <br />to the Colomdo River, The recommended <br />plan would reduce the sa~ load of the <br />Colorado River by approximately 20,600 tons <br />per year, <br />The schedule calls for sending the Upper <br />Colorado Regional Director's Final Planning <br />ReporVDraft Environmental Impact <br />Statement (PRIDES) to the Engineering and <br />Research Center and Washington Office in <br />September 1985 and filing the <br />Commissioner's PRIDES with EPA in <br />October 1986, The Commissioner's Planning <br />ReporVFinal Environmental Impact <br />Statement and Record of Decision are <br />scheduled to be sent to the Department of <br />Interior in October 1987, <br /> <br />Glenwood-Doterso Springs <br />Unit <br /> <br />The Regional Director's Proposed <br />Planning ReporVAdvance Draft <br />Environmental Impact Statement has been <br />released to the Forum (Colorado River Basin <br />Salinity Control Forum) and to appropriate <br />Federal agencies for field level review, <br /> <br />Meeker Dome <br /> <br />Quarterly monitoring of the observation <br />wells and seep stations continue, The seep <br />stations had declined in flow from the <br />previous readings but the water levels in the <br />observation wells continued to fluctuate with <br />some levels showing a rise and some a <br />decline, <br /> <br />'!J If':::, <br />re,~ A Quarterly Report on the <br />~~f:){), Colorado River Water Quality <br />/fA '1.Jq~Nmprovement Program <br />~ .pC ,/~" <br />C'Q~~O-9...,^ (9~~- <br />'~/'/l!;!O I.~ <br />'''II/a. The State of Wyoming requested <br />that Reclamation study additional use and <br />disposal altematives until April 1965 when <br />another meeting between the two groups will <br />be held, <br />Altematives suggested by the State of <br />Wyoming are being evaluated and costs are <br />being estimated at the appraisal level. SbJdies <br />of saline water use at J 1m Bridger Powerplant <br />are expected to be completed by May with a <br />final report released by July, <br /> <br />Lower Gunnison Basin Unit- <br />Uncompahgre Area <br /> <br />The recommended plan component that <br />provides for winter livestock water <br />replacement continues to receive wide <br />support from the UVWUA (Uncompahgre <br />Valley Water Users Association), On <br />February 4, 1985, the UVWUA membership <br />voted to direct the Board of Directors to <br />negotiate with Reclamation on the winter <br />water replacement. <br />
