<br />. <br /> <br />In contrast to the mountainous areas where detailed flood <br /> <br /> <br />plain information is scarce, many attempts have and are being made <br /> <br /> <br />in the high plains region to compile the necessary information to <br /> <br /> <br />define the flood problem and to plan for its solution. The present <br /> <br /> <br />status of these problem-solving activities is discussed in the fol- <br /> <br /> <br />lowing paragraphs. <br /> <br />STATUS OF PROBLEM-SOLVING ACTIVITIES <br /> <br />The solution of flood-related problems within the South Platte <br /> <br /> <br />River basin involves numerous agencies at Federal, State, and local <br /> <br /> <br />levels of government as well as special agencies known as water <br /> <br /> <br />conservancy districts. Activities of these agencies are discussed in <br /> <br /> <br />general below. The status of individual projects is discussed in <br /> <br /> <br />Appendix D, Flood Hazards. <br /> <br />FEDERAL AGENCIES <br />At the Federal level, the following agencies are involved in <br />the solution of flood-related problems in the basin: <br /> <br />.
