The breaker has
been used many times to isolate the Camino-Gene branch of the
230-kv line for repair and maintenance work. However, the increas-
ing importance of operations between the District and U!li!~tates
----systems-has-ilf<1icatecnne aovisa15ility of-pjaclrig a breaker in the
230-kv Gene-Parker tie-line. Accordingly, the 2:30-kv breaker at
Camino was moved to Gene pumping plant, and placed in operatioll
there on April 14. 1952.
Generation and delivery of energy from Haavel' power plant
involves the interchange of energy from Parker and Da\'is power
plants with energy al10cated to the District. In the process of inter-
changing energy, the United States delivers Parker energy to the
District ill lieu of Hoovel' enel-gy. Storage of water in Lake Mead
is thus increased. The ,vater is then lIsed fOI" generation of energy
to be returned to the United States. However, the rate of return
has been low, due to an abundallce of Davis energy and consequently
the storage in Lake Mead has been increasing until in January 1952
it represented "bout 121 million kilowatthours.
