First meeting of the Board of Directors of <br />The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California with <br />Beverly Hills, Burbank, Glendale, Los Angeles, Pasadena, <br />San Marino, Santa Monica, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Colton, and <br />San Bernardino represented, under temporaQ' chairmanship <br />of W, O. Harris of San Bernardino. <br />1929 February 9. William P. Whitsett of Los Angeles elected <br />permanent chairman of the Board of Directors. <br />March. California and Utah ratified Six-State Compact. <br />June. President Hoover issued proclamation making <br />Boulder Canyon Project Aet and Six-State Compact effective. <br />July 1. F. E. Weymouth was made chief engineer of The <br />Metropolitan Water District of Southern Califomia, <br />October. Secretary of Interior Wilbur announced requests <br />for power from Boulder Canyon project insured that all power <br />would be taken, thll~ assming re?ayment of c05t as required <br />by law, <br />November 14. First report on Colorado River water supply <br />project submitted to Baal'll of Directors by Chief Engineer <br />Weymouth. <br />1930 April. District contracted with the United States for <br />storage and delivery of water, and for 36 per cent of the power <br />generated at Hoover Dam. <br />May. District took over all engineering and other work and <br />records-from-th~ BurelfLlOrWatei'\VOrKs and-Supply of the <br />City of Los Angeles, and contracted to pay in full all pre- <br />liminary expense incurred by the city for the Colorado River <br />aqueduct, <br />October, Arizona filed bill of complaint with United States <br />Supreme Court charging that construction of Boulder Can- <br />yon project was invasion of its rights. <br />November 10. Chief Engineer Weymouth submitted a <br />final report to Board of Directors on preliminary surveys, <br />designs, and estimates and recommended the Parker route <br />for the Colorado River aqueduct. <br />December 19. Engineering board of review consisting of <br />A, .r. Wile.v, R. R. Lyman, and Thaddeus Merriman reported <br />to Board of Directors approving the Parker route. <br /> <br />I <br />
