A
recent study shows the land irrigated in 1964 totaled 7,500

acres. This increase amounted to 1,350 acres for a 22 per-

cent gain over that reported as irrigated in 1937.
The irrigated land located in the main Little
Snake River valley generally has an adequate supply of
water, although shortages of water occur on almost all of
the tributary streams in years of low runoff. It is esti-
mated that 3,300 acres of land have an inadequate water,
supply.

The population of the subbasin consists entirely
of farm and ranch population and this has decreased in recent

years.

The results of an estimate of the present stream

depletion of the subbasin are given in the following table:

Present Stream Depletion - Units-Acre Feet

Annual Stream depletion by
irrigation
Annual stream depletion by
domestic, livestock, etc.

8,100

Total annual stream depletion

700
8,800

Potential Use

Studies of the potential of future basin develop-

ment indicate new water use will be limited to the irrigation

14

'- ,.di;s.,i,~
