To: Gene .IencIok <br /> <br />Dam: 51111I6 Tme: 12:11:17 <br /> <br />:t <br />( <br /> <br />,,~,7t. <br />~"''''---:':.J <br />"t;;-'~i; <br /> <br />The operational scenario for Flaming Uorge this spring is designed to meet critical <br />research needs and simultaneously avoid major flooding along the Green River near <br />Jensen, Utah. <br /> <br />These releases should not hllfm the trout fishery below Flaming Gorge Dam, according <br />to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR). In order to boost trout sUlVival and <br />promote growth, DWR now stocks rainbow trout once before and two times after the <br />Green River flows have peaked. A recent electro-fishing sUlVey indicated that the trout <br />were in good numbers and condition. While high releases in May and .Tunc may make <br />bank fishing more difficult, it should improve rafting opportunities. <br /> <br />As stated, the operations meet the requirements of the final Biological Opinion issued <br />under the authority of Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. Each year the operating <br />Federal agencies meet with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife SelVice to coordinate the <br />operations to meet the specific fishery recovery program needs for that season. <br /> <br />111111 <br /> <br />_Iofl <br />
