It is located on the \\bite Hiver Plateau in northwestern Colorado, approximately 20 miles north of the town of Glenwood Springs and 30 miles southwest of the town of Steamboat Springs. It is accessible from U. S. Highway 40. U. S. Highways 6 and 24. State Highway l::H. and State High.....ay I:~2 via graded forest roads. The 1-12.230 acres included in the propo...cd l-1at Top", \\'ilderness are delineated on ~tap .. A" on Page vi of this report. The boundary is described in Appendix A. 'The area includes 24,000 acres within the Routt :\'ational Forest and 118.230 acres within the White Hivcr :\'ationaJ Vore~t.
